WE LIVE AS WE DREAM – ALONE > Jennifer Abessiraby Itay Blaish | 21.08.14
When you have a creative spirit you may be able to turn your hand to taking photographs, painting, composing (amongst others) but what separates the great from the good? Point of view, intention and an eye for the unique.
Jennifer Abessira creates art from an outlook which is all her own. Her visuals are emotional, sexy, tempting, unpredictable and smart. Abessira moved to Israel as a child in 1992 from Paris. Currently an MFA student at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, she already holds a Masters in Interdisciplinary Art and a BA in History and French Literature, both from Tel Aviv University. Her list of accomplishments at this age are remarkable; from participating in the One Hundred Days of Active Resistance by Vivienne Westwood in 2010 to being listed one of the top ten most promising up and coming photographers by Dazed & Confused magazine. Her work is becoming globally recognized with exhibitions and mentions in publications at home and abroad.
Abessira now presents her work in a new solo exhibition; We live as dream – alone, which is on at Tel Aviv’s Artstation Gallery. In this exhibition Abessira confronts herself and her audience with a carefully curated bombardment of gestures, expressions and symbols which both express and deconstruct what we know of contemporary visual culture.
Abessira will be talking about her work tomorrow (Friday, 22nd August) at the gallery from 11am.
